I ask because most of us who grew up behind anything other that Glocks have a hard time transitioning to them.
The different grip angle gives trouble to a lot of shooter. I've not yet met anyone who went from 1911 to Glock and did not regret it after a couple of trips to the range.
The people who do like them, swear by them. I'm not saying theres anything inherently wrong with them. But they certainly FEEL WRONG to me and most everyone I've ever shot with.

Unfortunatly I haven't been able to because the local range doesn't rent em. I've held quite a few and they felt very comfortable but that was before me and my Colt had our first date. However I think I'm leaning more towards an XD anyway. __________________ Best advice I ever received: It's better to be tried by 12 then carried by 6. |

I have and love 1911s and my only poly gun is an XD .45 Compact. I can transition from the 1911 to the XD without much trouble as the grip is very similar and the trigger isn't that bad... |

Thats a very good point NGIB, I noticed that myself. That is why I think I'll be going to an XD, they are similar to a 1911. Now, I just need to be a member for 3 more days so I can post in the classifieds. The hardest part will probably be finding a buyer for mine. __________________ Best advice I ever received: It's better to be tried by 12 then carried by 6. |

Cash is scarce for many folks as I've had my pristine Commander listed for quite a while. Good luck with selling yours... |

Yeah. Dual safety system. Better ergonomics. And, as has been said before, it's not a Glock.
The 9mm and .40 are available here in Texas now for $459, the .45 for $499. |

Don't discount the M&P line from Smith & Wesson. Came really close to pulling the trigger on a M&P 45 compact I found for $479. It would have complemented my M&P 9mm but wound up buying an LCR and Ruger Mark III. __________________ ‘‘Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.’’

The XD feels better in my hand, I like the sights better, I like the grip safety, I like the loaded chamber indicator, the trigger feels better, and I believe it has a higher magazine capacity. |

My guess is that you can't afford the 1911 you really want! |
