Converting from 1911 to Glock 30 or 36?

Hello all. I have been put in a very sad predicament within the last couple days. I've had some serious car trouble and am lacking the money to fix it. Thusly I have decided that an economical way to get me some extra money would be to sell my 1911 :( and buy a cheaper .45. My 1911 is my carry gun so I'm looking for something else that would be good to carry.

My eyes landed on either a glock 30 or 36. I can pick one up for about $550 when I sell my 1911, which should give me a couple hundred bucks and also it might be just a little more convenient then my 1911 to carry. Though it's depressing thinking about selling her it's something I have decided I have to do.

So my question is which one do you think would be the better choice, 30 or 36?

Have you looked at the Springfield Armory XD45?

Why not a Ruger P90, it would cost you even less, that way you have more money left over.
You can even pick up a nice Rock Island 1911 tactical for less and still have a 1911. Rock Island 1911 .45ACP Tactical Handgun Part #AC-RI1911TAC

A Glock could never replace a 1911. Go RIA.

I have, but the size of the Glock seems more convenient. Also around here the XDs tend to be a little more expensive. Do you know any benefits to the XD over a Glock?

Yea but going from a Colt Combat Elite to an RIA would hurt even a little more. I rented a P90 a while back at a range and there was something about it I just didn't like. Just didn't feel right it my hand.

I like my Rock Island a tad bit more than my Kimber. It is still a 1911.

Well I figure while I'm at it, I kinda want to get something a little smaller and more comfortable to carry everyday, especialy with the warmer months coming.

Lol, I like the XD more then the Glock but a 30 or 36 just seems to be a good size and a lot of people don't have many bad things to say about either of them with the exception of the slight uncontrolability of the 36 compared to the 30, the mag cap, which doesn't matter for me and the slimmer profile of the 36. I like XDs and have thought about getting one but they are slightly more expensive here, a little over $600, some close to $700.

Ok, so after looking at some prices on Gunbroker and such, I did find that the XD45 costs about the same price as the Glock if I order it. And I'll tell ya, I have checked out XDs plenty of times before and they felt very natural in my hand. So now I'm looking more towards an XD. I'm so torn. Now the first part of this painstaking process, selling my Colt.

BTW, sorry for the multiple posts, by the time I finish writing one, someone else has replied to what was previously said.

Slow Down There

Have you spent any time behind a Glock???

I ask because most of us who grew up behind anything other that Glocks have a hard time transitioning to them.

The different grip angle gives trouble to a lot of shooter. I've not yet met anyone who went from 1911 to Glock and did not regret it after a couple of trips to the range.

The people who do like them, swear by them. I'm not saying theres anything inherently wrong with them. But they certainly FEEL WRONG to me and most everyone I've ever shot with.
