no i don't think you're wrong at all. everyone has their favorite styles or brands of pistols. we are not limited to owning just one style or brand either. i own two different 1911's, but i also have many others that are not 1911's, and enjoy all of them for different reasons. but i will say this, the 1911's are my favorites and the best in my collection of pistols. i will also say this, i will spend more money on a 1911 pistol than most any other type or brand. variety is the spice of life! so go ahead and get a 1911, you won't regret the decision.

45 being the most common and prefered, but also 9mm, 38Super, 40, and 10mm and possibly some others.

SA has one, the EMP. it looks very similar to my Micro Compact 45. also comes in 40 caliber. has a MSRP of $1345-1425. so it ain't cheap. Colt has the Defender in 9mm with a MSRP of $1015.

Nothing wrong with having the 1911 bug. I was thinking about picking up one for myself but decided that I need to sell more before I start buying
