I'd say take the 27 my friend. MOST cops carry 22 on duty or 27 off duty. So this increases your likelihood of using a fellow officers mags if the SHTF. In addition for $150 you can get a drop in barrel for 9mm so you can shoot 9mm at the range

I was thinking about getting a G36, just not sure how well this would work in a ankle holster?

I may go ahead and obtain the G36, and if it does not work out, i can find a place at home for it
