Advice please
Looking for some opinions, i am a LEO at a Sheriffs Office. My duty weapon is a Glock 21 45 ACP...... I have a BUG which is a G26 Gen 4, i love this weapon and have not had one single malfunction or anything and it is in mint condition with about 700 rds through it...... My question is a co worker of mine is seeking a trade with me witch is my G26 Gen4 for his G27 Gen4, he is wanting a 9mm for a BUG..... As we all are aware the 26 and 27 are the same exact size so what is your opinion on this trade...... He stated that his 27 has approx 1000 rds through it
Would you do this trade?

Sounds like 6 in one, half dozen in the other. If you feel comfortable stepping up in caliber, why not...buuuuut...if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Is that your dilemma, caliber?

No, im am fine with a 9mm, actually carried a 9mm as a duty weapon for years and did not feel under gunned, i really do not get into the caliber wars..... My issue is, i want to help out a friend, i think he wants to drop in caliber, but my 26 has been very good to me, and i just dont want to make the move and get screwed.... I havent.

No, was asking about caliber as strictly a preference, trust me, I don't do the caliber war thing How would or could you get screwed? Friend right? Trust him, right? I think I'm missing something...

I guess because i know my 26 i know that i have taken care of this firearm, i know that i have no issues such as FTF, FTE etc, however i dont know about his 27......i do not know how he took care of it or of he had any issues.... Word of mouth yeah, but anyone can say anything..... We are not real tight friends, he is just another deputy on my shift, that brought up the idea when he asked if i carried a BUG..... He is a newer deputy. I guess i am just puzzled as to why he would want to get tid of the 27, it isnt like my 26 is any smaller, they are exact same size........ Only difference is that his is a 40 and mine is a 9.....

Ahh, I get it...well, if it were me, I'd err on the side of caution when it comes to a firearm and potentially your life. You know yours in and out and can't say the same for his. If I had any doubts at all, I'd say no...my .02

To answer your question, no I would not but if I were you, I would carry the Glock 36 as my bug. It's same caliber as your duty weapon and is slim and easy to conceal!

I have a G27 and chose it over the G26 because I already have the G22 and G23 so wanted to stay with the same caliber for magazine compatibility, etc. It is a handful (but fun) to shoot however Pearce +1 finger rest do help. I haven't fired the G26 but suspect it's a little more controllable.
I wouldn't make the trade since you're happy with your G26 and switching to the G27 still wouldn't give you caliber compatiblity with your duty gun. Have you thought about going with a 45ACP for backup?
