Default 3rd or 4th gen glock 19?

I plan on getting a glock 19 but I don't know if I want a 3rd or 4th gen. It will be my first glock. I have never liked the blocky look of the 3rd gen glocks but they are tride and true. I was never really into glocks (I'm a 1911 .45 guy) and always wanted an xdm until I picked up a few 4th gens at a gun show... Anyways I am torn between the two, I would love to hear some of your opinions. Which would you get and why?

I recently bought a G23 Gen 4 and I absolutely love it. its a .40 s&w. the FBI uses it as their sidearm. its got quite some stopping power and are extremely reliable. the only cons I could think of is that ammo is pricey, so maybe a 9mm could have been a good choice. but u can get a conversion barrel on the G23 to shoot 9mm bullets. I mean if u pay a bit more you get a newer model. so why wouldn't you, right?

o and don't worry about the recoil spring problem. glock has fixed the problem by now. I've had zero problems with my glock and I have shot about a thousands rounds thru it with about 6 differents types of ammo brands

I prefer the 3rd gen for carry, the grips on the 4th gen aren't exactly the smoothest and wouldn't feel great rubbing on your side. Like sandpaper, just my $.02.

Get the gen4. For a $50 price difference but you get 3 mags instead of 2. My gen4s have no probs or sortever.

?? Magazines only cost about $20. You could buy 2 magazines for $50 and have 4.

I bought a Gen 3 G35 and I love it!! My friend bought the Gen 4 G22 and he loves his!! It all depends on which one is the most comfortable for you to handle! You don't want a uncomfortable grip when shooting your gun.

Try to find a 2nd generation 19, straight frame without the finger groves then you can custom fit it to your hand and have a correct fit.

I have Gen 1, Gen3, and Gen 4 9mm Glocks and I would recommend the Gen4. I like all the improvements from the grip size (which you can add panels to make it the same size as Gen 3 or even larger) to the texture, larger Mag release, tighter lock-up, reduced recoil, etc., etc., etc....

Good that u could find $20 each for a mag. Also the gen4 comes with 3 changeable grip sizes and gen4 is the latest version. Anyway it all comes back to self preferences.
