What Type of Hearing Protection do YOU Prefer?

Personally I use both, mostly plugs, but it really depends on what caliber I am shooting and where I am shooting, inside or outside. Also if it is cold outside, I will definitely use my muffs.

If I am shooting 22 lr rifles seeing as mine all have 25" barrels on them. I just use plugs. Anything bigger or if I am shooting pistols at all it is plugs and muffs. This summer I am going into get a set of westone custom molded hunter model ear plugs that way I can here fine with them in and still get the sound of the shot blocked out.

i love my ability to hear....still enjoy playing some instruments and do not want any premature hearing loss.

for now i go with those peltor combat plugs -green side for indoor and yellow side for outdoor and then just about any pair of muffs over those will do.

i'd like to get those custom molded ones too but havent been able to locate the guy around here that does them, i heard he can be spotted at some local gun shows, just havent found him yet.

I have a 50% hearing loss in both ears and I'm protecting what is left!!

I use plugs most of the time. When I go heavy, I'll add muffs.

I can recommend this brand of plugs with no hesitation. Ear Pro Sonic Defenders, I use the Sonic Defenders plus which has a cap to add extra protection. Model EP4-M (Medium, you won't need large!)

Muffs for me. I feel my ears are the safest and most comfortable with them on. And, I hate putting stuff down into my ears.

Cain, I have heard some good things about them Sonic Defenders and some of the guys I shoot with use them as well. I tried a pair and was impressed and they sure beat the hell out of them foam plugs. They are comfortable and inexpensive for a plug that can be reused, sanitized, and best of all, their adjustable for sound. :D

Thanks, I have made my mind up and they are indeed my next purchase.

Me too. Plugs just don't seem to fit right.

You will love them! Shop around and you should find them for <$15 a pair.

Be sure they are the Surefire EarPro EP4 Sonic Defenders Plus Earplugs which have a higher db rating than the EP3s.

I get mine here, most gun related sellers double the price:

Surefire | EarPro EP4 Sonic Defenders Plus Earplugs | EP4-MPR
