Yep. 45 Colt headspaces off the rim, as does .410. Problem w/ .410 and metallic catridges is that .410 SHOTGUNS are built to operate at much lower pressures, AND have a .410 bore (not meant for .44 or 45 bullets) The Thompson contender also had a .45 Colt/ .410 bbl.
There IS a video of some guys trying to destroy a modern day top break .410, even running a .444 Marlin thru it
(remote control firing) and did not blow up the gun. HOWEVER, that is tap dancing in a minefield!
