Ours probably has an internal issue then. If it wouldn't cost me more than the pistol is worth, I'd have it checked by a smith. The only reason I keep it aeound is that it was my mother's. He!!, the only way I'll even carry it is full mag, empty chamber, and on fire anyway. If it gets to the point that I need it, I probably didn't pay as much attention as I should have.

On a side note, I 'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who still has one of them. Thanks for the post Kid.

Hey, I'm a confessed "Safety Susie" and part of that is due to a negligent discharge on my part when I was just a kid. I was lucky no one was hurt and no serious damage was done, but damn that was one of the scariest moments of my life.

Not fun learning the hard way, but better to be lucky and learn something than not.

Welcome to the FTF.
An ND can happen to the best of us.
Thanks for sharing your story.
Yes they can. That's what irritates me when someone posts that a person has shot himself or someone else after a negligent discharge. You get the ones on calling them a idiot and how it would never happen to them.

Examples below.

I have sympathy for the mother, and the kid, but the father deserves none. There is no excuses for his negligence and he should be prosecuted for manslaughter and jailed.

Don't count on it. He's 44 years old and still this stupid ?? I stand by my previous statement about yanking his carry permit if he has one.

Again, I believe this is a result of lack of training.

Training won't fix stupid. 44 years old and doesn't know dangerous things come out the end of a firearm? Not smart enough to check it or carry it properly. Not smart enough to not point it at someone you love. Sounds like a complete lack of common sense,

there are two types of people that have a ND. those who have. and those who haven't yet.

those who say it would never happen to them are just on borrowed time. also some lie and say they never had one to avoid embarassment.
