She was right. You are lucky. Multiple breaks of the small bones in the big toe, the extrapodiamaximus, is the most common cause of scepticemia or internal hemorhagic blood poisoning. Quite difficult to cure, deadly and very swift. Coupla hours once it sets in.

KIDDING. Glad you went to doc hard guy!

That's how Jack Daniels, the creator of the greatest tennessee mash ever made, died. He kicked the floor safe in his office one day because he couldn't remember the combination and a few weeks later he died of blood poisoning. That was back before modern medicine so they didnt know anything was wrong.

i feel for ya man. a couple years ago i broke, and dislocated my toe.. where as my other 4 toes went straight, about half way up my pinky toe took a sudden 70deg turn. it hurt as if i stubbed my toe.... but dear lord i was about ready to punch the nurse when she had to give me a needle directly into it to numb it so i she could reset it... that is the worst pain i have ever felt.

i managed to find my old photo of it.. it happened while chasing my son around the house on his birthday and catchin a door jam.

Col. Roebling, who built the Brooklyn Bridge, died of somewhat similar origins. Foot got hurt on the construction sight building one of the caissons I believe and he only believed in treating things with water, so got blood poisoning, and died a horrible death.

Well I have changed my mind. It is starting to hurt pretty bad now. I am not big on pain killers. But I guess I am going to take them now. Now I am going to miss an IDPA competition. I was planning on using my 629. I have been molding bullets and testing loads all last week. I finished getting everything ready last night. I doubt they would let me do it on crutches.

Foot wounds are such a problem. It seems they take so long to heal. The entire body weight pressing on the appendage that is on the far end of circulatory system.

Hurt is probably one of his greatest songs and one of his last. Beautiful song. Fitting for a man of his past. Great man, great music.
