But I think it depends on the level of maturity if you think your boys are mature enough then you can give them after little training.

I was three when my father had me sit in his lap to shoot his AK. By my 5th birthday I had my very own Remington 12ga.... I love firearms, I taught my future wife how to shoot, and when my son get to be a good age to be interested in shooting I'll do the same with him.... I think it's the best way to bring them up IMO.

That has been said many times over, but it cannot be overstated. Another factor is the maturity of the person who is presenting the sport.....
