I am no smith by any stretch, but i think "bulges" belong in sweaters not barrels.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The bulge is one inch in at the muzzle... the business end, where the shot comes out, the end farthest away from your body.

Wish I had a pic from him to post, but in general it sounds like a new barrel is probably sufficient. It already is a pretty short barrel so there really isn't anything I think he could get cut off and still be legal length.

I'll pass the messages along to him and if he does decide to have it inspected I'll post the findings.

My bad, I retract my suggestion then (to sell it). rebarrel it and you are good to go.
