How to check eye dominance ...
Approximately two thirds of the population is right eye dominant and one third left eye dominant. There is a smalln portion of the population that neither eye is dominant. Dominance does appear to change depending upon direction of gaze due to image size changes on the retinas. There also appears to be a higher prevalence of left eye dominance in those with Williams Beuren syndrome and possibly in people who suffer migraines. Below is a simple test to find out which of your eyes is dominant.
Instructions
1. Extend your arms in front of you andcreate a small triangular opening with your hands. Select a small object morethan 20 feet away and center it in the opening that you have created with yourhands. Close your right eye; if the object stays in view then you are left-eye dominant. If it does not then you are right-eye dominant.
2. Extend your arms in front of you andcreate an opening similar to the one you made in the last test. Again find asmall object and center it in the opening. This time, bring your hands towardsyour head while keeping the object centered in the opening. The opening willcome to rest over your dominant eye.
3. Align a distant object with yourforefinger. Alternate closing your eyes. If your finger is still aligned withthe object when you close your right eye, you are left-eye dominant; if yourfinger is still aligned with the object when you close your left eye then youare right-eye dominant.
