Police say this is not the first time they have been to the Mantua home and that Goldwire is not cooperating with the investigation.

Detectives say they are trying to figure out who owned the handgun, which they found on Goldwire's bed.
Well, the 14 year old was the one who got the gun from on top of the fridge. No father in the home. I'm sure no gun safety being taught. Plenty of 14 year olds hanging with gangs, especially in single parent, minority homes and not making the best decisions. I wouldn't be surprised if the gun turns out to be stolen and might not be the boyfriends.

When I was a kid growing up my grandfather was a firearms instructor and he always told me if I found a gun around the house to assume it was loaded because they served no purpose empty. He used to leave his handguns loaded on top of the fridge all the time and he would have me clean all of his gun collection when I was 10 years old and I would find his service pistols loaded all the time. Only good thing was he had trained me how to load and unload all his firearms . Now that I look back I'm glad he tought me about firearms but as far as safety he was nuts lol.

That's one stupid 14 year old. 14 and you're not smart enough not to give a gun to a 2 year old.

Poor kiddo! Another innocent child victim of irresponsible gun ownership. Gun owners should always be the one responsible to this esp when there are children around the house. This thing is actually not new to us so we, gun owners, should always be aware of what it could result for just leaving our guns elsewhere and loaded. I'm a gun owner and always secure it in a safe place.

Swap out "gun owner" for "parent" and you will be dead on.

QFT 'Gello, QFT. Got some bad memories of this situation myself. Both of the "children" involved were 19 and 18 YOA in the one that drove that lesson home for me. One "Oh Sh!t" erases 1,000 "Ata boys".

I know only this:

Children have a magical talent for finding,

loading, and enabling firearms.

You have to lock them up, put them away, and

carefully keep the keys.

You also have to keep your guns in a safe...

Default Unsecured weapons.

No weapon should be left in the open ,its the full responsibility of the adult owner to properly secured that weapon, like in previous case were that issue has been kept out of the news, law abiding citizens know the truth ,this individual cause a tragedy period, not the weapon, not the ammo, not the gun owners of america.
