Ok, where to start.

Instead of going off on a long post about a god given right, look up "Natural Rights" and how they relate to pre-colonial America.

So since guns cause crime....Pools cause drownings? Cars cause road rage? The ball causes a basketball game to be lost?

We have enough privately owned firearms in the United States to arm every soldier for the top 5 largest Armies in the world. By your logic of a "gun CAUSES Crime" we should have all but wiped ourselves from the map by now.

How can an inanimate object cause a crime? Does it get up one day, load itself and hold itself to the owners head until they commit a crime? Should I be afraid of my M4 or AK?

I was told that no report could be released to prevent mistrials.

I donít harbor any hard feelings for England, itís people or your laws, but It does show such a great difference in cultures.

Scubie, now I understand your case a bit more, Lawyers tend to and always have dragged their heels over cases, and the reason you were not given any intel was because it would have been Sub Judicy, roughly speaking until a case has been to Court, it may not be discussed, as it may affect the cases outcome, and if it's a case of trial by jury, may sway the juries decision. however, having said that, there was no reason as to why you had been treated so abomidably by the officers concerned, personaly they should have been dragged over the coals.

I do think you are getting rather silly now, and lost not only the thread, but also the plot.

How so? I'm trying to understand how a object can, in and of itself, cause crime? By making people think they are Rambo? Is there some sort of mind altering mystical spell or chemical in the gun that would make one think that? It's estimated that there are over 200 million guns here. So there are 200 million Rambos?

I think that your replies, have given me a very good insight as to why some folks shouldn't own weapons, and you can read into that, what you will.
This has turned a good post into a schoolyard argument, and not worth reading, by anyone.

If you're looking to get rid of a few I know of a University student in Australia who I might be able to talk into taking some off your hands

Hmm...I think the discussion has been very tame, so far. You seem to think that guns possess mystical powers, and impart some kind of spell on people. You said that guns CAUSE crime. That is BS.

We see it differently. Is the car to blame for the drunk driver? Is the alcohol? No, the drunk driver is to blame. And then alcoholism gets labeled "a sickness". I believe it is a choice.

And I do not know Gruntpain, but I'd be willing to bet that he is exactly the kind of person we WANT owning guns. I'd also be willing to bet that he has never broken a law with a gun.

I commend you for joining a large gun forum and having the stones to take a moderately anti-gun stance, openly. But I don't think there are many FTF members who feel the way you do. We do not generally believe that any gun control is reasonable. Responsible people should be able to respond forcefully to the actions of violent and irresponsible people. And there should be consequences for criminals who are caught committing crime, especially violent crime.

All of your anti-gun statements, so far, are emotion based. And you have made pronouncements and been dismissive. We prefer reason.

If a large, violent man is breaking into my house I think it is reasonable for my wife to blow him out of his loafers with a 12ga. In the UK, that is not allowed. She would be required to submit to whatever violence and depravity he deemed was appropriate, and (if she survived) rely on the Police to take a tidy report and "try" to find the perp. We have a very different view on self defense in this country. Isn't it true that if he broke into a home in the UK and the woman inside defended herself with a knife (and he had no knife) that she would go to jail for using excessive force? Does that seem right to you?
