Never, ever approach an attacker you just put down.. It could cost you your life. Your job is to seek safety/cover for yourself and loved ones.. Calling for the police and medical is proper intervention.

Only contact authorities after enjoying a small snack...

There are both legal and psychological reasons behind my suggestion. If you render aid you are one step closer to having the jury like you. If the jury likes you they are more apt to believe you when you say you had no choice in the shooting.

Psychologically you will have an easier time coping with the aftereffects of the shooting if you did something to try to keep the guy from dying. It also makes an impression on the first officer if he initially sees you as a caregiver, and not a shooter. That might make things a lot easier for you.
That would be my ONLY reason for thinking maybe yes, you should. But really, if you, the shooter, did your job correctly, he should need a bag, not First Aid. And, no, I would not feel morally responsible for helping him, if he just tried to kill me.

I disagree heavily will everyone saying he should be dead if you do your part. I DO NOT shoot to maim, and i DO NOT shoot to kill. I shot to stop the threat.

I will not render aid. My priority in life in general is to care for my son. No more. If the threat is down, good. I'll still be retreating to added safety with my child in tow.

OK, that one changed my mind. No heroic effort it is.
