Wrong! Close quarters drills are MUST for any realistic qual course and training plans .
This has been one of my goals for 30+ years to get the close quarters training and qual as part of all those who carry a gun professionally.
We (CSPD) added this to our qual many years ago and it did not hinder the rest of the qual at all. As a matter of fact it helped in the safe gun handling training.
An armed society is not always a polite society, but it is a free and safe society!

Here is an accurate video showing the ICE Course being fired . It will enable you to pretty well duplicate it for fun :
