I'm left handed and right eye dominant.

I've always kept both open when shooting pistols, closed my right eye when shooting rifles. Now, I keep both open for rifles, even with a scope.

Try shooting your long guns left handed. I keep telling my RH\RE friends that they are doing it backwards. Why do so many of us use our strong side to pull the gun to the shoulder, and use our weak hands to take most of the weight when shooting? Wouldn't it make more sense to reverse the hold and have your stronger arm supporting the rifle? At least for off hand shooting? If you are of opposite dominance, why fight it?

Left handed, Right Eye Dominant.

I have a seriously messed up right shoulder. It can't handle the very minute recoil of a .223, let alone my .30-30 or 12 gauge.

As for handguns, much more of a natural feel in my left. And that's a bit more important, don't you think?

I shoot with my left eye open. Oh, and I shoot with my right hand. I stand on my left foot, while rubbing my head with my left hand. I face the other direction and look into a mirror. I need to give the other shooters a chance.

Actually,
I use my left eye for handguns with both or either hand. My right eye is a little blurry.
I shoot scoped rifles with my right eye.
I use both eyes (which you are suppose to do) with my AR's Eotech and shotgun.

I shoot with both eyes open and have no trouble concentrating on the sight.
You lose a lot of vision with one eye closed, especially in a tactical situation.

I tried shooting with two eyes open. I think I was 100% better shoot. Hit the steel targets every time, first time trying. I will never shoot with only one eye open ever again. Can't wait to try that with a scope (next time) THANKS to eatmydust for starting this thread... I would have never known otherwise! thank you! That was fun!

I've been shooting and hunting for over 40 years as a rightie with left-eye dominance. It's going to take a total retraining to teach myself to shoot leftie.

I may have to give it another try, I've tried some before and it is very awkward for me.

Right handed but left eye dominant, but due having 3 amputated fingers on my right hand I shoot left handed. It works...

With me, I'm all over the place. In a relaxed setting with irons on my AR I close one, in a tactical/ close range situation both open. Pistols --both open, shotguns- both open. When using scopes one enclosed. Red dots both open unless magnified.
