I love spooky but when your in a heavily populated area spooky is not the answer. You need pinpoint down to one mil accuracy with not too heavy of a blast radius

Overkill is sometimes a very gratifying experience, especially when you can vaporize some son of a b*tch who's been f*cking with you half the day.

You will not know where a properly trained sniper shot from. Unless he keeps the same hide over and over. As one sniper picture I saw "If you heard my shot, you were not the target".

Not many snipers escape an artillery barrage or being strafed by aircraft. One sniper managed to elude a team of snipers and an artillery barrage. Finally he was struck in the jaw by a ricochet. He survived having half his jaw being blown off to take the president moose hunting. His name was Simo Hayha.

Exactly!

Any good sniper can stop a battalion of infantry dead in their tracks until they send their own sniper teams to flush him out.

There is no quick and easy way to do that.

Waste all your artillery ammo? Not exactly.

Thanks for the short history lesson JD. I have once again managed to learn something new for every day I am alive for yet another day.

I think the majority of snipers we've been encountering for the past 45 years or so might not meet the Quantico standard of "properly trained."

nowadays any lone gunman with an AK taking potshots at a unit will be considered a sniper. We only ever came up on 4-5 actual snipers when we were deployed for the most part they were foreign Al Qaeda fighters armed with SVD type rifles.
