JPyle you are right. It's amazing though as I can go to some cities in NJ and get a gun on the street (illegally which I would never do) but I can't buy one legally in NJ to save my life....which is why I want a gun in the first place!

Being new to considering gun ownership I'm not certain what my next step would be...

First step is the Firearms Owners ID (FOID) and a pistol purchase permit. even if you don't plan to purchase a handgun the FOID is required for ammo purchase and some ranges will not rent to you or let you shoot without it.
