its funny how many smart asses there are in the Marines. I scored a 96, with a GT score of something like 135. I don't even know what the hell the GT score means, but my recruiter looked at it and said "holy sh!t!" So I assume that's pretty good.

Same thing happened w/ me. I took my ASVAB w/ through the Marine Corp. The recruiter threw the binder containing all the different MOS on the table and said pick. It's funny how even now people think service members are generally less intelligent.

They told me they would make me a tail gunner on a spaceship to Jupiter if I wanted. I told them they could just let me play with the cool guns here on earth and they've got a deal.

You can join at 17, at least you could ten years ago when I signed up.

You can enlist at 17. WITH A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA. And your parent's permission. No 17 yr old can be deployed to a combat zone.

Too smart for the Army, I beg his pardon, he's clueless! My guess is he never commanded a TOW Gunship before, otherwise he would think differently.

First off, no disrespect young man but you need to check yourself. "Honestly, I like to fight for some reason. However when it comes to firearms i can control myself", your what we refer to as a hair trigger, Liking to fight is not a prerequisite to Technical and Tactical proficiency, just means nobody will trust your judgement.

Joining the Military specifically to wage war is less than solid reasoning. That attitude could get you disqualified out of the gate. Junior ROTC is a great way to start, also many Reserve and National Guard Units have familiarization weekends that civies can attend, go to the field and get a small taste of that before they sign.

Do good in HS, then think about joining. Because you have no degree above HS, you will be behind many in promotion and pay. If you wanna be all you can be, you need to bring exceptional-ism to the table with you not attain it later. Good luck!

And learn Spanish in high school. Basically automatic specialist rank when you get out of boot. Pissed me off watching all the Spanish kids rank up for no reason. Oooh you know spanish, good for you, try talking to a camel fu#&er in Spanish.
