To change from carbon steel to stainless steel is a process that has not been developed for the home user yet.
To change the color of the slide to a silver or other color, check out Duracoat or Alum-Hyde. Steps will include removing all parts of the slide. Preparation is the most important step followed by the knowledge of how to paint.
