Default Repainting Gun?

As you can see this was not taken care of by the previous owner. I was wondering how exactly one would go about fixing this. Would you just try to remove whatever paint and rust that is on it and try to repaint it? or paint over it all after trying to sand down where the old black paint came off? Any ideas or tutorials that anyone knows about? Thanks in advance.

I would lightly sand the metal, wipe it down with alcohol(or other solvent) and paint it camo.

Mossberg 500A?

Have one just like it, the reciever is painted, but the rest is blued, you could reblue it if its not pitted or you could just paint the whole thing. Camo will help hide any pitting or imperfections. You could also pick up a new barrel or cut yours down if you really wanted to.

Duracoat sells camo kits with instructions.

Some paint and an 18.5" barrel would be my pick.

Maybe a 6 position stock.

Personally I'd take a look at the chamber and bore and decide if it was worth the trouble first. Then because of how badly it is pitted and dinged up I would bead blast it. Obviously soak all the internals in a 50/50 solvent/oil mix in the process and then clean them all up. Then I would either duracoat or blue the entire thing.

Any ideas on what paint I should pick up? Any specific ones that anyone on here have used and like? I would rather not order it like pick it up from walmart or a paint shop but if needed I will order it. I figure I will just paint it black not camo or anything. I want to get rid of the thing anyways but I just want to clean it up before I let it go. I hate seeing it like that every day.

Spend the money for a kit from brownells or midway. The paints made for guns are basically an epoxy. Nothing else that I have experimented with lasts worth a damn.

Thanks. Any particular one you recommend? I just want like black. I don't want camo or anything. Just the maker of whatever you used would be good then I will find the color or whatever. Thanks in advance.

Brownells sells several different kinds. They only handle good stuff that is made for guns. They guarantee every single thing they sell.
