phosphate coating my AR barrel. help please?
I recently finished my first AR build, which included pinning and welding a compensator to a 14.5 in barrel. I wanted to re-phosphate the area I welded but was concerned about the phosphate getting inside the bore. I was wondering about how to plug up the bore as to avoid getting the finish in there when I dip the muzzle. I was considering using clay. Anyone have experience with this?

Phosphate tends to wear off the gun in areas that get rubbed in normal use, so I would think that it would be easy to remove any phosphate in the barrel with a wire bore brush. You might try a "dummy" piece of metal to apply the phosphate to and see how hard it is to rub it off.

That makes sense. Plus, not degreasing or prepping the bore at all will probably mean it will come off that much easier.
