Even if I could just knock down the yuck 10% it would look a lot better.
my suggestion would be some soft flannel cloths and Kano Kroil. might also try some of the finest steel wool available an Kano Kroil. i cleaned up one of my father's rifles that is over 40 years old that was left unattended in his safe for about 15 years. had some minor surface rust on the metal. cleaned it up with Kroil and very fine steel wool. came out looking great.
