Are these new zombie bullets something special or just a sales pitch? Can't find any info on them. Hornady persist that they're for "zombies only". Any insight? |

Some here say that it's a sales pitch, and that they are really just the same as Hornady's A-max. I'm not familiar enough with their ammo to say so for myself. But I have to say it's likely a sales pitch. Although the CDC posted a "surviving a Zombie outbreak" tips and preparedness section. __________________ LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!! |

To the best of my knowledge, there is no thing as a "Zombie Bullet".
All "research" that has been printed, including Max Brooks' excellent series of work, suggests that destruction of the formerly human brain is the only viable way to dispatch this form of the undead.
As such, ANY round that can penetrate the "human" skull, wreck havoc on the brain tissue, and disrupt signals the rest of the body, would suffice.
So I ask you, would you rather have a .44 magnum with lead reloads from 1977, or a .38 with Hornady's new "Zombie Defense" rounds?
It's a gimmick type of ammo that is well timed.

They are, I believe, a modified version of the Hornady Critical defense round with a brass case and "toxic" green polymer tip. The Zombie pitch and Z-Max is a gimmick but the standard CD rounds did perform fairly well when tested.

I think there mainly just a sales pitch and something fun for all the z-day prepairers. I mite get a box myself what the heck its always fun when people make something different. And you never know they might come in handy one day ;P __________________ Have Gun....Will Travel |
