Zero water/Brita
Does zero water or Brita act as an acceptable filter for SHTF?
Could I filter pond/lake water, then run it through one of these devices and drink it safely?
If yes, do you have any links/evidence to support this?
Thanks. Prep safe.

I'd rather my own son see me die on my feet as a free man, than watch him go, broken, into slavery.

No. A Brita filter is just activated carbon and a softening agent. It just makes water taste better, it doesn't purify it. All those little amoebas and such will still be in the water after you run it through the Brita.

From their website
"The ZeroWater® systems currently sold do not have the capability to remove bacteria."

Yeah, now that I think about it, they do not remove the pathogens! Maybe after purifying for real, you could run the water through to improve the taste.

Hmm... I'll have to look up microns. You'd think if it could 'purify' water to 'zero' ppm, it could remove bacteria.
Seems like it'd be better just to boil, and skip the filter.

Or just spend years developing immunity to my local water sources, like in Princess Bride. :-D
