My woman has an extensive collection of sparklies that need protection when she isn't wearing them.

Then there is gold and silver coins that I will need to be able to secure my poor families safety when the SHTF.

Then there are the financial records and deeds of property....

Then there is my Classic Air Jordan collection. I have a brand new, never before seen the street, 1988 and 1989 knock off that I got in Korea in size 12. Should the SHTF and I find myself in the inner city, these babies will get me safe passage out.....

Not everything that goes in a safe needs to bang. My Friend...

people keep saying multi-tools...well, mine goes on my belt, so that's already a given..

ammo, guns, food, clothing, fire are already there...my medkit is already in its own bag, an army surplus bag...so....

as Ineffable already said, I'm putting JD in my BOB.

Somebody mentioned this already but I feel that this is something that is consistently overlooked in this and other forums' discussion of SHTF scenarios- Water. Sure you can boil water, but will you have the time and expendable calories to start a fire and keep it burning? What about when burning a fire gives away your position/ allows others to track you? If you have a portable stove how long will your fuel last? We all need to have fast acting water purification tablets in our BOBs. A filter is nice, but purification needs to be the priority. Even in our own homes fuel supplies can be cut off and water can very easily be contaminated. We can only reasonably store so much water. It may not have the cool mall ninja factor, but water above all else will keep you alive.

Food and medical supplies may be scarce, but I am willing to bet that members of this forum have greater resourcefulness than the vast majority of people in the U.S. By that I mean even if we don't have food on hand we will be able to successfully scrounge, gather, hunt, or otherwise obtain our own subsistence. As for firearms, well, that is sort of a 'DUH' item as far as we're concerned, but even those will be available. Just look at any war torn country (which is why I feel it is important that everyone knows the ins and outs of the AK-47. Even though it isn't anybody's first choice, it will be the main gun smuggled into the area during a long term collapse of civilization type of SHTF situation).

I hate to say this, it shows how week I am, but I would want to have some tobacco products available. I would hate to be in the aftermath of a disaster and be on edge even more because of a lack of nicotine. I would hate to think that I have shot someone that didn't deserve killin'.

A bag of (1) item? I guess a bag full of water and a defensive weapon in my back pocket.
