Couple of months ago my wife and I were watching a movie and the power went out. It was just getting dark outside so it was even darker inside. I knew it was likely a downed power line but also had the thought of "what if". I remember thinking that this is how it could very start. It will look innocent enough at first but in time if something drastic has happened it will be known. Now is when it would pay to know where your immediate family is and make it known to them that this aint gonna be a picnic. I'd try to make contact with those I trust that are close by. I would also arm those in my home that were trained and qualify to carry a weapon. Those that had not taken an interest in practice, procedure and safety would not have access, they may shoot me or someone else by accident. I would also scout the area around my home on a dayly basis, or have someone qualified do it for me. Always leave a core at your home/camp that knows the plan of defense and retreat if needed. Never be caught with your guard down, even if that means sleeping in your boots.
