The milsurp rifles are good, long range, and not real pricy. I shoot Mausers, SKS's, Enfields, O3's, etc. But for CHEEP- ugly but reliable- the Russian Moisin-Nagant 91/30 is hard to beat. The ammo is about 30-06 power range, bolt action- and if you need a shorter one, get an M-38 or M-44 carbine- same caliber. Paid less than $100 for each of mine. Another $100 will get as much Milsurp ammo as you will shoot in the next couple of years. Or you can spend $900 on an AR-15 with half the range and faints at the sight of dirt (yeah, that oughta stir 'em up! ) |

Nope. Not even touching that one. The last two AR versus AK battles have raged for weeks....

I just read in the current version of American Rifleman that the U.S. actually used the 91 Moisin Nagant in WWI. Apparently Remington received a contract from Russia to produce 1,000,000 for them, but they ended up defaulting on the payment so we kept almost half of them and used them for training and then issued them...now I want one!
P.S.-
I don't have the "Mattel" toy version of the AR-15..mine shoots accurately to 500+yds and has a port door to prevent dirt from entering the chamber area... __________________ Guns Have Only Two Enemies-Rust and Politicians

Hmmm .... can someone help me? My Ar-15, like, 'fainted' after I laid it up against a sand dune this afternoon; and, now, I can't seem to be able to revive it. Can any of you guys tell me how to get it back up and running again? Maybe the gas sphincter valve is clogged, or something?
PS: Also, no matter what I do, I can't seem to hit anything much past 350 yards with my AR, either. Is there a cure for this too?
How about 200 yards?
100? (Come on, I'm really desperate here!) |

Sure thing Valley Girl, bring it by the shop around closing hours and I would be happy to see what I can do for you. Just make sure you wear a short skirt....

Yes, I think I can help...I took a course in this...have you tried "mouth-to-muzzle" resuscitation". Ideally you should be performing rapid bolt compressions/decompressions simultaneously. This is difficult to do by yourself, so I suggest you do the bolt compressions/decompressions while a friend (c3shooter maybe?) does the "mouth-to-muzzle"...

Please reserve this technique for gun haters. Tell 'em it's the best way to never have to worry about guns again.... __________________ 9x18=Makarov |

Hey! He started it. Ragging on my beautiful AR platform... and after I did a 6 page write up on how to build one for crying out loud....
