What should one have for a survival rifle
 

I'm going to make a survival rifle using a pellet gun, so far I'm going to give it a camo, and a pouch that straps to the stock to hold extra pellets, co2, magazines, a multitool, and a firestarter.
Are there any other attachments that I should put on my rifle.

I know very little about pellet guns, with that said would one that has a handle to cock it (build it up air pressure in a cylinder) be better than using Co2 cartridges?

A scope would make a head shot easier.

And how would a pellet gun provide survival benefits? What would those benefits be?

I'd get one that doesn't require CO2.

I have one that shoots 1250fps if you use the PBA pellets and 1000fps with standard pellets. It has a 3x9 scope on it and its very accurate. Other than squirrels the biggest game its killed is racoon. The coon was about 25ft up in a tree and I killed it with one head shot. I think pellet guns have come a long way and can be very useful in a survival situation.

Cheaper, cheaper ammo, quieter (I live in ma so I can't get suppressors), no restrictions as to barrel length, and it can easily take out small game- you don't need the ability to take out deer or bear because your not going to be able to carry the meat, so all you need is to be able to kill squirrels, plus with a shot to the head or jugaler vein it will kill a human, my main reason as to why is the quiet aspect

I trip across this regularly in such circles. Not as much as "the .22 LR is the only gun you need to survive the end of days," but it is common.

Even the theory is weak IMO...

I'm not a fan of pellet guns, but I also recognize they could be useful. I could see one making a good survival weapon if you happened to be stranded in the wilderness for a few days. One could also be useful around the house for small game and varmints. With that said, I think it's also important to recognize the limits of a pellet rifle and the benefits of a good center fire rifle in a survival situation. In other words I wouldn't depend solely on a pellet rifle just like I wouldn't depend solely on small game for any length of time, but that is just my opinion.

As for the original question, I would add some fishing line and small hooks to that pouch. They could be very useful in a survival situation and wouldn't weight much at all. :)
