We eat a lot of dried beans, rice and cornbread. Every year or so we go a couple months without buying groceries just to eat up the stuff we have before it goes out of date. We could stretch what we have for six months in a bad situation. In a SHTF situation the only thing I would miss is my brisket and cabbage.
We stock up on pinto beans, eggs, potatoes, and flour.Flour to make tortillas and flatbread bisquits. And they sell milk that needs no refrigeration .Keeping non perishable foods like Powerbars, granola bars, beef jerky, and even protein drinks like Ensure.
We grew up poor and knew how to survive. We were also taught how to can our own food.
