Wife just scheduled me for falsies next week. I'd rather get in a good fight and have them knocked out. But as we enter the last days of the old republic and it may be a while until the new republic is up and running. Getter Done

I find myself grabbing handfuls of salt, pepper, sugar, ketchup, mustard, mayo, and those wet towelettes whenever I'm in a fast food joint that has them set out. I take them home and put them is a FoodSaver bag, the they go right into the BOB.

Let the hoarding begin!

Pills don't work as well as food that has the nutrients we need. Douglas fir needles have a very high vitamin C content. Chew on that!

Today I was working on my car AC system and they now (in the People's Republic of Kalifornia) have further restricted the use and distribution of R134a refrigerant. Stock up if you can.

So what exactly are y'all supposed to use? Are you now required to have a garage do it for you?

Default Freon

The only reason you have to have refrigerants regulated is Dupont. Their patent was about to run out so they invented the "hole in the ozone layer" to make their old product illegal (so no one else could make it) and had congress require their new product as the only acceptable refrigerant.

You may have noticed that there is no more discussion about the ozone layer.

We have started raising chickens for both food and eggs. We are starting with enough to give chickens to friends and neighbors. They seems to be a good TEOTWAWKI food source. Depending on how well the flock does this winter we intend to free range as many as possible. It will do a couple of things...give me coyotes for target practice and with luck keep the cost to raise the little buggers to zero.

That's pretty much what they want you to do. You can get the refrigerant at some auto parts stores but it comes in a special "leak-proof" can that you have to put a $10 deposit on (one pound can) and return it. Parts stores that have the old disposable cans cannot sell it any more by law, not sure what the penalty is though. It pretty much prohibits the small business auto parts stores from carrying it any more. Yet another example of the government beating down the small businessman.

OK, I went a little crazy today at Aldi, Harbor freight, Dollar Tree, Home Depot and Dick's Sporting goods. Here is the aftermath $220 or so later:

Here is the Dollar Tree stuff:
