Survival to me means, getting through an unusual situation, not necessarily unscathed.

I've survived shootings, stabbings, car chases, hand-to-hand combat, two major surgeries and one bad marriage.

When I hear the word Survival, i usually think of wilderness survival... s**t hits the fan and I have to flee into the woods with a survival kit, as much ammo and guns as i can carry, finding a nice spot, building myself a lean-to, hunting for food, making fire, etc..
