I live in the country, so I have a water well. The bad thing about that is that I need power to run the well, so I added a whole house generator, that runs on propane. I have a 200 gallon propane tank. Now I just have to keep refilling the propane, but I should have fresh watter for a long time.

I am pleading guily re the water problems over there, is it because you have no utilities, as you live too far from and mains water supply, and only have springs, and wells?.
I can understand up to a point re floods, as we get them also.
If it is because of floods, then I can understand the need for backup systems should the main utilities go,

I have a large Koi Carp pond, with a dry chamber containing all the electrics, including two U.V. lights, which stops the water going green in the Summer, it also kills germs. The circulation is through a domestic water pump. I have 5 filtration chambers 2 feet x 2 feet x 4 foot deep, each leading from one to the other, until the final pickup chamber where the water is re cycled again.
I suppose the point I am trying to make is, is that if you need to store large quantities of water, keep it circulating to stop it stagnating, even a 12 volt fish tank pump would suffice,in ost cases, but make sure you have a U.V. set up,to keep germs at bay, all you would need is a generator not just for the water pump but also your other electrical items.

LOL, that reminds me of when that flood when the media was actually refering to Rio Linda as Lake Rio Linda.

Cheaper Than Dirt has them for $19.97 each.

For my area, emergency water supply needs to be in containers, drilling for water here - is out of the question.
