Would I raid an Orchard or Grocery store , sure , but not critical items that mean the death of others because of my lack of KNOWLEDGE..!

I , then would not be fit to live . That is the source of all the problems in the first place , ME , ME , ME....!..............?

I would have to define the threat...

Immediate offensive lethal assault, anything goes.

Extended hostile environment...I believe that in physics as well as life there is an equal reaction for every action. A cautious, but prepared approach would be smart. I guess the choice is offensive vs defensive. An offensive approach should be used wisely and with clear objectives....a subversive, defensive, and seemingly compliant demeanor allows for calculated preparation.

This is not the time for bravado...we left the age of such long ago. IMO smarts and some unifying cohesion is required for any "worst case scenario" success.

I chose option 1. But that simply states there is a line I will not cross. I will not murder. Self defense is not murder. I would not kill someone for their food. I would stop someone from taking mine and my family's. But I would not let someone rob me now. That is why I carry a gun. I would not eat another human being. I would die first.

Rick, you are a truly good guy and will make some cannibal a fine meal one day.

This depends on one's definition of "success". If you want to rebuild society, then some morals and standards would be needed, but if you just wanted to have a good time and live out your time while being amused by the collapse around you, morals might be less important. Me personally, i would be in for the latter ride; i believe human civilization has about run its course and would have no desire for a reboot.

MrMcCool by your comments, I think your original question should have been "how far would you go to provide for your family?"

Am I correct in that assumption?

Hey Orangello:

My son tells a joke about two cannibals eating a clown. One looks to the other and asks, "Does this taste funny to you?"

I've contemplated the effect of terror tactics, much like Count Vladimir Drakulya used back in his day. He is now known mythologically as Count Dracula.

He was a defender of the Balkans against the expansionist armies of the Ottoman Empire during the 15th century B.C.
He was known as "Vlad The Impaler", because he would behead his fallen enemies and impale their heads on stakes as a warning to others, not to transgress his borders.

I wrestle with my conscience on whether or not I could use such tactics. But transgressors/looters/attackers have already lost my compassion. I wrestle with the Christian aspects of bodily desecration, even though I know the soul will have departed.

We will probaby have our faith and values tested regularly in a SHTF situation.

I don't know if I'd be willing to.................................

But I have and do contemplate this!!

The largest dilemma with all said scenarios , is that of the Fate of thee 90 year sickly Mother-IN-Law.........Sorry Mom , see you on the other side..!

Now the wife , she's become a semi-nut case with me after all these years!

YUE WOULD NOT BELIEVE...............!
