I used to have a Gerber BMF. I loved that thing. Got my car broke into in San Antonio, Tx. Some other guy has it now. I have a K-Bar combat knife now. Its very nice.

Some Gerbers are very good, some are absolute junk. None are what they used to be IMO since they started selling them at Wal-Mart. I hate to say that the American made ones are the worst.

The M-9 is garbage stainless -- it is NOT a knife but is a pointy prybar. It is BARELY sharpenable and does not hold an edge. The new M-10 bayo at least is 1095 Carbon Steel. Upgrade!

I'm a big fan of ESEE knives. And they're made in the US.

Myke Hawke makes a good one.

Sent from a Droid...but not the Droid you are looking for. Move along.

What do you guys think about Gerber?
Gerber LMF II. Great knife, comes in more than one version!

That's what you want! They make an excellent knife. Tops makes great knives too. Tom Brown tracker knifes are a true "survival" knives.

Personally I have a folding Kershaw 1605 that I carry every day. I also have a bunch of other knives that I am selling off. Some are mentioned in earlier posts.

I have tried to use one of these without much success. I use machetes very often and the Woodsman's Pal doesn't work for much of what I can use a machete for.
