Yanno, "plan 'this'," BOB "that". One thing I have

learned ,in my time here, is a plan is only the

starting point where reality steps in.

Watch "Tremors II" and "Tremors III".

IMHO, we may prepare that the unexpected

will be inevitable, such is life and death.

OH, BTW, what if the S never HTF?

I would guess that 99.99% of the folks on here hope this is what really happens. Still "Hope for the best, plan for the worst"

Retailers have GOT to really dig

preppers. Why would the big boys

EVER want panic buying to end?

What happens if...

...you never get into a car accident?
Never use everything you and maybe your employer paid into your health insurance?
Never get more from Social Security than you and your employer paid in?
Never take advantage of Medicare?
Never go on unemployment?
Never file a claim on your homeowner's policy?
Die with anything more than a penny in the savings account and a single rimfire round in the closet?

What if the S never HTF? That a serious question!?

Pay attention, HL.

It was a serious answer.

No it wasn't unless, as you indicate, your life experience really is based on third-rate Sci-Fi movies and the entire point of prepping is lost on you despite my help. Mine was a serious answer but let me make it even simpler:

preparations are insurance.

Why would you pretend prepping is different than any of the other things you do to be careful? Or are you the kind of guy who lives hand to mouth, goes to the store or kills or harvests every single meal he eats, and only buys gasoline when you actually run out of fuel? Of course you're not. 'cause you're not silly, right? You'll die with money in the bank, food in cupboard, and gas in the tank. "What happens then!?" you ask.

Maybe you think that's being serious but it's not rational. You don't wanna be prepared? Fine. But why are you poking those good folk who invest in being self-reliant for more dire circumstances with a sharp stick?

That's what you need to explore my friend...

Lighten up, HL.

I'm just pointing out that I've been

living with dire predictions of the

EOTWAWKI all my life, ever since I could

first read, in the early 60s. PERHAPS

folks should also be prepared, in

the event that SHTF never occurs.

I wonder how all those folks who maxed

out their credit cards before the Mayan

Calender debacle feel, about now ?

IMO, nothing wrong with being prepared for the worst and hoping for the best, but some people do seem to be obsessed with it to the point it absorbs their entire lives and personalities. there does seem at a certain point that it goes overboard and consumes their entire lives. they forget about actually living and trying to enjoy life. sad.

everyones need to bug out or bug in will be determined by their own personal needs as well. in the event there is a SHTF situation, then bad things will happen the world will change and people will die. it's just the way things are or will be. no different than when the Black Plague swept through Europe in the 1400's. millions died and the world changed. death is part of life as is change. people and societies change and nothing remains the same forever.
