Show off your PSK
I just started carrying a PSK in an Altoids tin and now I feel odd if I don't have it. It doesn't take up much space and would be helpful in an urban or wilderness environment. It may help some people get one together, or it may give others ideas they didn't think of before.
Myself, I did my first one last week. My PSK currently consists of (from Bottom L to R to Top): 2 Alcohol Swabs, Flashlight(led and two batteries), Leatherman Micra, Foil (about 12"x12"), 2 Immodium AD & 2 Benedryl, Nail file, SOL TInder-Quik, SOL Striker, Duct Tape on straw, Nail w/ 30' of 30lb Braided Fishing line, 2 small nails, Flat Whistle, 4 waterproof matches, 4 bandaids, 3 butterfly closures, and Altoids Tin w/ 2 utility blades taped to the lid. "Ranger Band" is a bike inner tube to keep it from opening. I still need to add a button compass (Tru-nord 100C), a few needles and thread, a strike pad for the matches, two Tylenol, and safety pins. I may have to figure something out to get that all in there. I also plan to add a Zippo to my EDC as it seems like it could be handy for many things. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j9...z/3da6d03e.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j9...z/ef62f008.jpg |
Actually, that's a great Christmas gift idea - make a bunch of those up and give them out. :)
Neat idea - you have me thinking (my bug-out bag is always near me, but this is a different line of thought). |
I've needed to go ahead and put something similar together for awhile, and seeing yours just motivated me to go ahead and do it. My problem is I keep trying to figure out how to fit 500 rounds of ammo, a machete, and 6 months of food in there. It just won't fit no matter how I arrange it. :D

I keep a BOB ready to go, but I do like the idea of having something small and always on hand. I get that is has to be small in order to always keep it on me. I just have a very hard time narrowing it down to a small can. |

That Altoids tin can also be used to make char cloth for starting a fire. See this awesome thread that tells you how http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f12/firecraft-ftf-bushcraft-school-lesson-1-a-31069/

I still need to change a few things. I've added a Zippo in my pocket to complement this.
In addition to this, i've been carrying or keeping in the car my new EDC bag. I just got it, 5.11 Moab 10. I'm still trying to outfit it with some useful items. So far I really like it.
