I've got an orange grove to my immediate south, an angus beef cattle ranch to my immediate north, a stocked fresh water spring-fed pond, so when the SHTF it's steaks and bass for dinner, oranges and tangerines for breakfast and all the fresh water I can drink...and I plan to start stocking up on beer.

In fact it might be a real good idea to have a booze cache. I can see booze being in high demand during the apocalypse, a valuable trading commodity.

That's an asinine comment and not funny though I doubt you are completely kidding. I'd like to think it goes very badly for you. It would here...

And I'm a "5+".

I wish I could go out and spend thousands of dollars outfitting a bunker. Well, I can't. Mebbe I'll win the lottery next week, but it's probable I'll have to keep on doing my preps a little at a time.

Now, do I really think that the sky is going to fall, or the country is going to fall into anarchy, or hoardes of zombies surround my house. Well, no. Sure, it COULD happen, but it's more likely that some natural diaster will force me to be largely self sufficient for a few days or, at most a couple of weeks. But I figure that a little prepping can't hurt.

Guns and ammo -- oh hell, I'm a gun nut and I 'd have those anyway. Food? When I go to the store a buy a little extra and the surplus reserve builds up surprisingly fast. Water -- got a well, and while the pump is electric I have a gas generator, and, if all else fails, can draw it directly out of the pipe. A deep well hand pump is on the list of things to get. Keep a little extra gasoline and keroscene around, along with some lanterns and heaters that use 'em. Got a big barbeque and a couple of multi-fuel backpacking stoves. Etc.

I'm not all prepared yet, but I'm getting a head start on it.

I thought this thread was reserved for what if SHTF, Armageddon, end of days, anarchist, apocalypse, end of days situations. Not common, temporary disasters.
