I've got a couple B.O.B. full of everything I think id need except a water source but there's more than enough rivers lakes and springs around here as we'll as a camping setup that's always packed in the camping wagon :-).... As far as guns are concerned I'd bring a pair of .223s my AR and savage 110 as well as my pair of glocks both in .40.... The wife would get my 12 gauge and her .22s both pistol and rifle... Between the two of us we have pretty much everything covered..... Unless I had a few hours notice I'd leave the .338 and extra .22s at home cause it just weighs to much with the ammo

If for whatever reason we don't make it across the street to the truck or it won't start we would each grab a bag she gets the 12 gauge I get the AR we each get a .40 and I'd have a takedown 10/22 in my pack

It really depends on how the proverbial sh*t hits the proverbial fan. Are we talking a natural disaster? If so, what kind? Are we talking rioting akin to the LA Riots? Are we talking an all out civil war? Are we talking an invasion by a foreign power? Are we talking a gang walking up and down my street shooting everyone? How about a nuclear war? Widespread chemical weapons bombings? Zombie apocalypse? Alien invasion?

What I'm dealing with IMO could influence what I'm bringing. If we're talking a natural disaster and my community is generally supportive of each other, I don't need a people-killer necessarily. So the Ruger 10-22 would be high on my list.

Right now though, my gun selection is limited so I would bring (based off what I own) for any situation: the Ruger 10-22 and my S&W model 66 (.357 Magnum).

If my gun selection expands in the future (of course it will. "If" was a stupid thing to say) I would prefer an 8 shot .357, and either an AR-15 or maybe still my Ruger 10-22. I might consider bringing a shotgun, but at that point we would be pretty burdened down. I'm sure my wife would have her M&P9 on her hip. Heck I might bring mine too.

But honestly the shotgun and my M&P is pushing it for me. I have two kids (essentially) and a wife. The kids are too little to be of much help.

Regarding what you are saying you'd bring, even if you have a vehicle you're transporting all that in, you gotta think eventually you're gonna run out of gas. You may not be able to get any. Are you gonna have spare gas cans in the vehicle? You're gonna need a lot of extra cans depending on how far you're going. In my own mind, I assume I'm gonna be on foot sooner rather than later. I think your load-out is a bit unrealistic. Even mine might be pushing it.

Also, in having that much firepower I would definitely assume you'd be a target. All it would take is a couple guys to see you and then ambush you when your backs are turned.

Since I don't plan to go anywhere in an emergency I can pick and choose firearms, from the safe, as the need arises and I don't have to hump anything. If you are fearing the SHFT you had better be where you will feel comfortable today.

If you think it is difficult to travel on a holiday weekend, you can't even imagine what it would be like in a real emergency; gridlock, panic, no gas, no food and scared, armed, desperate people who will want to have what you've got. If you live in an urban area, with hundreds of thousands on the move, there will be no getting out, and no better place to go.......

ok so you get your arsenal in the car its packed to the roof with guns and bullets... where are you going?? i read a lot of shtf stuff and always stops at get in the car pack up and leave but when you ask where exactly your going to go?? and its vapor lock time.

humans CANNOT live in a vaccuum. despite what the dig the bunker in the ground middle of nowhere folks think you cant survive for long as a solitary human. even the most reclusive mountain men in the old west had to come to town for things.

my plan is organize with friends and neighbors and acquantances and make sure peace and rule of law is maintained. we have the constitution and bill of rights and thats more than enough for guidence during extreme strife.

i think loading up the chuck wagon and beating it for wherever is a sure way to end up as a victim.

i do have enough guns and ammo to arm friends and keep an area safe from gangs, but bugging out to the hills is not a solution. sounds good and fun but totally unrealistic

Where I'm going reguardless of the scenario I can make it there and back on less than quarter tank of gas and survive the winter in realitive comfort... I'm thinking I'd make multiple trips back and forth if I had the time.... I live pretty far outta the way already

Like some have said, I'm buggin' in, not out. Live in a semi rural area, have water supply, and all my stuff is here.

However, if I were to go anywhere, and there was a chance I'd be walking, carrying what I need, I'd carry a .22 rifle, probably my 10-22, and a .357 revolver, and at the last minute and against my better judgment I'd also grab a 1911.
