I realize lots of us here have been in the military, but things that worked acceptably well while part of a military unit may not work when it's just you and your family. This may only apply to my family, but my wife was never in the military, has never been shot at (even while escaping from communist Viet Nam), hasn't seen many dead bodies, and isn't equipped to deal with that. I'd like to keep it that way if at all possible.

Glass any area you need to move through first. If something doesn't look right, it probably isn't. Take the long way home if you need to. It's better than getting shot at.
My wife continually surprises even me at how good she is, with almost any weapon I put in her hands, guess when you grow up the Daughter of a soldier and cop,....While she won't be able to shoot my Springfield from a standing position, she is skilled enough to handle everything else, even our new Crossbow pistol. We were in the back yard last night after having it out at the range Friday(our range also has a 50 yd Archery range besides 25yd pistol and 100 yd indoor Long gun range). We have a few pr. Of binocs, plus 5 cameras, incl. one on my roof that rotates 360 degrees, and I can view any camera from any of the 3 Macs or iOs devices we own. By the time we identify a serious threat we still have 90 secs. to two minutes. To "gear up," and we always keep the SUV at least half a tank full plus 2-5gal cans, and the UTV tanked, as well as bug out bags and a medical pack. If we have to go on a rollout, we can be on the road as much as 21 days if need be, or stay right here. If staying here, we have enough long gun Ammo and almost enough of everything else,....Texas, how much ammo you got for that mini gun?

Well..I'm too old and broke up to go anywhere. So I"ll just stand pat.

But I'd like to get all bad-ass like the OP and roll...... like a boss!
