I found a great deal on British surplus body armor I have a question about maybe you guys can help, I will cut and past what it says followed by my question.

It really is a great price but I want to know if it will take plates. I know nothing about over the pond stuff so I haven't a clue. Any one can shed some light on this for me. It looks very similar to ours yet suttle differences.

I guess they don't need body armor over there since there are no more guns, not even in the hands of bad guys, right? ;):D

Sorry, couldn't resist that opportunity. Hope that works out for ya!

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/695388/military-surplus-new-condition-british-osprey-mk-iii-body-armor-cover-desert-dpm-camo-extra-large same thing except on a different site it says it has inserts so yes there is a way to put plates in or kevlar filler. You know this is just the cover right? this has no bullet stopping properties at all without kevlar panels

aristoi 06-16-2014 12:56 PM

ya I kinda gathered that when it said cover. That's why I wanted to know about the plates. The site ware I found mine is cheaper and you get more the shoulder covers are included. I don't have a lot of cash floating around so I like to buy things a piece at a time. this would be a great start. I just wish it was in woodland camo like the rest of my gear, but beggars cant be choosers.

The Kevlar inserts for that will be hard to find and will most likely cost about $600 if you include the hard plates looking at about $1100 for the specific ones for that system. New body armor would probably be cheaper

very nice But out of my price range as well. plus I am looking for one with the neck an shoulder and upper arm guards to go with my Kevlar elbow pads. I dont mind picking up a cover and adding the plates as I can afford them one at a time. My BOV payment takes most of my disability check so yes money is a issue.

well the ibas system there has the lvl 3 panels with it not just the cover. we have a neck and groin cover on it but no shoulder things. Anyway the first thing we pulled off of those things when we got to Iraq was the groin protector and the neck piece its just added uncomfortable weight.

I must admit if its not obvious already to being a neby to body armor so all the terminology on the adds are lost on me. but I do how ever know what I want it for so that has to count for some thing :)
