Here they use dried fish and smoked salmon, caribou, ugaruik (bearded seal) and a (cannister of seal oil with "Sura"in side), a side jar of pickled Mucktuk and most that will strip your gears if heavily eatin, they like takeing pilot crackers and Spam for filler.

I remember reading the memours of a vietnam recon trooper that said that when inserted in a new recon area they used prepackaged local rations (fish & rice) the rice as I remember was pre cooked (instant rice??) so they added hot water and choked it down with lots of tobasco.
