munitions shortage solutions

With all respect to you folks I have a statment and a question. I feel that not long after a sociatal collapse guns will be plentifull while ammo will be rare. My question is can you recomend any weapons along the line of Taurus's Judge series that will accept more than one type of ammunition? Thank you in advance for any helpfull advice.

First, welcome to the forum. Usually new members show their respect to the forum by posting a thread in the Inroductions section and tell the members a bit about themselves.

Second, your best bet would be a .357 mag revolver that also shoots the .38 special. Both calibers are way more common than .410 shot shell and the .45 long Colt.

I'll second what Skull said, it's a great combination and potent as well. Of course, I'm somewhat partial to .357's.

Sorry about the introduction part my friend, I have fixed that now. Thanks for the advice.

12 ga shotgun. While it does not really accept other calibers, It is very common and available in many different loadings so the versitility is there.

There are also some caliber conversions available like 40 - 9 mm in Glock ad several others (XD?). 22lr conversions for many firearms from AR-15's to Glcoks, 1911's, Berettas, etc

Smith and Wesson Model 610 revolver shoots both 10mm and 40 S&W ammo

I am a huge fan of of my .38. Then again, if it shot .357 as well, I'd be golden.

I'm a huge 357 fan for that reason...44 Mag too.

I agree with all of the responses. Hell, the 12 or even 20 ga shottys can run slugs, buckshot and birdshot. Birdshot is not what it used to be for shottys. Now days, several loads are made for the heartier "birds". Even coyote loads.

Many shottys and revolvers shoot a variety of ammo.

For the ultimate highly adaptable firearm, a FLINTLOCK shotgun. No primers? No problem- check out rocks in your area. No powder? Read up on extracting saltpetre. No shot? Find something heavy that will fit in the barrel. No wadding? Wasp nests have been used. I will grant you the rate of fire is measured with a calendar instead of a stopwatch, but it works.

On the other hand, I DO keep a Dan Wesson 357 Mag with an assortment of barrels around. 2 inch to 10 inch. anything from .38 Short Colt to .38 Special to magnum loads that can overurn a refrigerator. 10 inch bbl shoots about like a carbine.

Excellent advice and C3 I will indeed look into a primitave setup like that ... Have any of you had any field or game experience with any of the various combo shotgun/rifle setups or even a vierling setup? Im reading about suppliers and prices but have to wonder about real food and defence function. I am not a collector I am looking for a tool.
