Default MRE's?

Hi guys, there is probably already a post about this, but, does anyone know where I can buy real MILITARY MRE's? You know, the ones with a ridiculous amount of calories... and actually taste good.

I buy mine in the commissary on MacDill AFB.

The chicken fajita ones are not bad, I think the spice of it does the trick.

SOPAKCO SurePak MRE for Sale Heat Max Hot Hands HeatMax Warmers

Its where I get my mil-spec 550 paracord (the real sh!t manufactured by E.L. Woods). I don't know why their MRE's would be any different.

one other thing. i hope your not planning on living off em they really are not good for you over an extended time period. they are designed as a food source to get you by for short periods of time when real food isnt practical or available. you shouldnt eat them just to eat em.

Actually what comes into play is protein content of the freeze dried packs for backpacking or other needs for functional survival in these "MRE's"

I use the Mountain House and Mary Janes brands of freeze dried (MRE) packs for extreme trecks on the PCT. Protein content is most critical for heavy exertion.

Generally speaking the "Military" MRE's are not the best tasting option and the selection and variety of meals are limited. Mountain House and Mary Janes are contractors to the military for MRE's but they offer much more and better selection for backpackers than they do the military.

Check out REI for these brands.

Check your local surplus store. That's where I've always found mine.

I bought some MRE's a few years ago. I ate one of each flavor I bought...they were disgusting. I liked the old C-rations better
