Guys I can see the need for a neighborhood 'milita' to protect our lives and property (food, etc) if the SHTF for real. I can't stay awake 24/7 so I need help. If the SHTF don't count on the Police because they will be involved else where. I gave Uncle Sam 28 years as a Airborne, Ranger, Special Forces vet. We have 3 vet's that live on our street and it would up to us to train the "civilians" in the group on weapons, etc.

I hate that you read that all Militia guys are beer drinking red-necks with no military experience. That is not true in ALL cases. I am sure there are some groups that any veteran would be happy to serve with.

My main concern is to organize my "STREET", if SHTF to protect ourselves and our property.

Ron I enjoyed reading your posts. I pray that SHTF never happens but if it does I am ready to defend.

Our group is not a militia, but there is a select group of us at the range that I use that more or less band together along with the range owner. We go on camping and fishing trips and hunting trips together. We shoot together weekly and are crack shots. We have discussed at times that if things were to really go down hill we would group there with our provisions, families, weapons and ammo.
This is also on a large agricultural plot of about 700 acres.
Mostly we use like weapons---.223, .308, .30-06 and of course .22's. We are all reloaders and keep a very generous supply of ammo per person.
We are not a militia, but as noted before we would group at that location which would be very defendable.

wow, just friggin' wow...I can't believe I am reading this here. This is something that I would expect to read on another forum.

While I agree that the term "Militia" means a group of organized people making up a small military and that the media has painted the Militia's as a bunch of radicals who hide out in compounds and believe they are the center of every governmental investigation. But you are lying to yourself if you do not believe that these Militia although they do not make up the whole, do exist. They are out there and trust me they are out there.

After reading this thread, for the first time I think I am in the wrong place here. I can't believe I read a post that ACTUALLY tried to paint DAVID FRIGGIN' KORESH as some guys who was minding his own business and the big bad government came and murdered him! So what was Jim Jones misunderstood as well. Hell lets talk about the Ted Kazinski after all he was just a misguided genius. Put the kool aid down and get a grip. Yes some rights are at risk, but for do you really believe all that conspiracy theory crap about Ruby Ridge and Waco? What about Bonnie and Clyde? Misunderstood youth? Up is down, down is up....cats mating with dogs. WTF?

Yes during those incidents, there were a lot of mistakes made and the FBI, ATF and other behaved like a bunch of idiots when they were there, but they were there trying to serve a legal warrant for legal reasons. These guys were a threat to society.

EDIT: I confused Ruby Ridge with something else. That was a cluster $#% maylae that was screwed up from the beginning.

Wow, just friggin' wow.

So my sister has the German Shepherd that is a bit off in the head, and the other day she's pulling into the drive and low-and-behold, there is the dog mounting a large stray cat, reportedly with much gusto.

I found it somewhat disturbing yet wished she had snapped a pic for proof.

It takes ALL kinds to make this world go around; maybe it takes fewer of some kinds, maybe not, not my call.

DefaultNot Worried...

I say let them do there thing. I don't think there hurting anyone and if the Shoot ever really hit's the fan, think 1984 for those of you old enough to have read this book, then at a minimum, they will act a skeleton crew for those of us with actual training to step in and take over.

God help us if it ever comes to that!

When you find the Devil on your doorstep, be ready, be armed, and hope you've got an Infantry Vet nearby.
