It is the first 15-20 minutes that is critical. You need to get through the first 2 weeks of the scenario. If there was a massive depopulation like a plague or a collapse there are dangers this exposes of what will happen when people are not there to control things like chemical plants, natural gas and nuclear power plants. These are largely overlooked in planning for survival. The nuclear power plants would automatically shut down but it is the spent fuel storage that is critical and dangerous.
