Keeping ammo on hand
What does everybody think is a solid amount of ammo to keep on hand at all times. In case for say, a natural disaster or total world collapse. Say I was to keep .45 acp and 7.62 x 39. 100 rounds or 5000 for each caliber, give me some feed back.

I would say more is better than less.
Is that Looking Glass Falls? |

I would say for an in home bug-in situation, I'd want to have on hand a minimum of 1k for my main defensive long arm, minimum 300 for my sidearm.
A .22 for small game hunting is a definitely flexible issue. I'd like to have a .22 long arm with at least 5k minimum. Now, what I have right now? About 30 or so rounds for my pistol, and zilch for my rifle. Yeah, I need to stock up.... |
I've got 3,000 rds of 22lr in the safe. 500 40. I'll put together about 1,000 9mm, and work towards 3,000 223 as well.

Long term. 5K for each self loading rifle. 1K for each manual loading rifle. 1K for each shotgun and self loading handgun. 750 for each revolver. And, as much .22lr as you can get.
I'm in pretty good shape |
I usually like to keep a core of 250 rounds, and 100 rounds for the range.

Ammo Dump is the better term!

All that I can get, and rotating old stock
