DefaultKeep The Tobacco?

I have a case of some tobacco with cigarette tubes (not rolling papers, but tubes). I don't smoke and it takes up space. I know it could be a good trade commodity if TSHTF, but I can't in all honesty justify keeping it.

Should I keep it anyhow?

Even factory sealed packages of Tobacco can grow mold and fungus. I know, I roll my own and have gotten it from the store that way. Rolling my own means I can smoke for 80 cents a pack.

If your not going to use it, but think that tobacco would make a great trade commodity in an TEOTWAWKI situation (and it will, I'm sure) then ditch the packages (but hold onto the tubes) and invest in some tobacco seeds, learn how to grow it, harvest it, and cure it.

While your at it, learn the right tobacco for rolling cigars and cheroots, learn how to make those from scratch.

Knowledge and skill doesn't grow mold.

Yeah, tobacco definitely gets 'stale' after a while.

I don't think you can buy tobacco seeds without a government stamp.
It is tightly controlled. (I think)

Yep, ^^^ just as easy a buying watermelon seeds, except you'll likely have to order it through the mail as very few places carry it. (because of demand)

Don't you need certain climate to grow tobacco? I don't think it would grow where I am.

pretty much any state in the lower 40 can grow tobacco, except with maybe a few exceptions.

You may be thinking of coffee. It has one of the most specific list of growing conditions I've ever seen.
